What a delight to find yourself in a beautiful lush lavender garden. Nearly every garden has at least one lavender bush. Lavender is one of the most beloved herbs and plants in the garden.

Lavender has been popular for centuries. There is much confusion about the meaning of the word lavender. It is mostly referenced to the Latin word lavare - meaning to wash.

It was in 2006, after returning from a holiday in Italy that my journey of growing lavender started. On our farm Somerton in Bloemfontein, South Africa, there were a few bushes of lavender that I treasured. I looked into the different varieties and methods of growing lavender. Interesting and somewhat surprising experiments with the uses and applications of lavender soon followed.  There was more than enough evidence that certain varieties had indeed healing properties.  I was inspired; I was convinced; I was ready.
